Set up formally in 2021, founder Luke Townsend has nearly twenty years experience in bio-based food ingredients and the plant-based food industry, including 10 years working with DuPont/Solae/Danisco.
With a strong commercial and development background, Luke began with the principles of processed meat production, whilst passionately working with clients large and small to create meat alternatives with soya protein for the changing market. As the business strategy changed, Luke opted to join a San Francisco start up and extend the knowledge in plant-based foods by working with Chlorella microalgae. Chlorella sp. in particular is becoming increasingly important in the quest for alternative protein functionality and Schizochytrium Sp. for Omega 3 fatty acids.
New Leaf Foods represent a number of established plant protein ingredient suppliers as UK & Ireland agent and distributor. Ingredient sales and distribution are through our BRC AA approved joint venture partner. We also have a range of clients we consult, seeking guidance on go to market strategy, product development and protein strategy.
